Much communication today argues a point. An argument, by definition, involves an attack and a counterattack not only using logic, but also incorporating non-logical feelings, attitudes, beliefs, and values. Much of the non-logical element in our argument taps the reservoir of unconscious understandings, feelings, expectations, and values that we have coded and stored in our unconscious minds in the form of stereotypes, schemas, and typifications. Our internal packets of stored values and beliefs may constitute our own worst enemy as they militate against creative thought and forward-looking change. At the same time, they may provide solace for our inner being and provide a framework for developing persuasive campaigns to further our interests. The book takes us through the persuasive process, particularly as it is used in terrorist persuasive settings and as it has been used in some of the major propaganda battles of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Zum einen muss ein Kind innerhalb weniger Jahre starke korperliche Veranderungen durchmachen, die aus ihm schliesslich einen Erwachsenen machen sollen, und zum anderen macht es naturlich auch innere Entwicklungen durch. Jugendliche in der Pubertat wirken oft sehr eigenwillig, verhalten sich scheinbar seltsam und durchleben extreme Gefuhlsschwankungen. Als Rebell erlebt der Jugendliche in seiner Pubertat die so genannte "Sturm und Drang" Zeit. Auch aus diesem Grund sind, nicht nur an den Schulen, zunehmend aggressive Verhaltensweisen zu beobachten. In Zeiten erhohter Jugendkriminalitat, gestiegener Zahlen gemeldeter Gewalttaten an Schulen, wachsendem Auftreten von organisierten Jugendbanden, hohem Level an gezeigter Gewalt in den Medien und der im Alltag zu spurenden gestiegenen Zahl von gewalttatigen Ubergriffen unter Gleichaltrigen im allgemeinen, ergibt sich die Frage nach dem Warum?" und damit die Relevanz, sich mit dem Thema Gewalt unter Jugendlichen auseinander zusetzen. Den Hauptanteil gewalttatiger Ubergriffe verbuchen dort die mannlichen Jugendlichen fur sich, wobei die Entwicklung gestiegener Madchengewalt, auch organisiert an Schulen, auffallt.
